The 6th Annual Conference of the European Network of Japanese Philosophy (ENOJP) is scheduled to take place this year in Budapest, at Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE), between September 1-4. In light of the recent events, the ENOJP Board has decided to send the following message to all potential participants.
*****
Dear Colleagues,
As you have probably seen, the recent outbreak of COVID-19 (Corona virus) has evolved into a rather chaotic situation, with many countries declaring a state of emergency and closing borders in the attempt to limit the number of cases, and a general climate of disruption and uncertainty. As there is still no end in sight to the whole situation, we have to take into account the possibility that this might also affect the ENOJP conference scheduled to take place in Budapest from September 1 to 4.
We are working closely with the organizing committee in Budapest to monitor the situation and to think of contingency plans, just in case we are forced to cancel or postpone the conference this year. Hopefully, we will be able to make a decision somewhere around the end of May or the beginning of June, but until then we plan to go ahead as scheduled.
So, if you intend to participate in the conference this year, do not hesitate to send your abstract. We will post updated information through the mailing list, as well as the conference website (https://enojp2020.elte.hu/). We want to reassure everybody that we will hold the conference as planned only if the situation is deemed safe enough for such a gathering to take place.
Should you have any questions or suggestions about this situation, please do not hesitate to contact us at any time.
Yours,
ENOJP Board
